 | Bruce Greenwood as F.B.I. Special Agent Tom Shea, managing an explosive situation |
(2004 cable movie; first broadcast June 6, 2004)
T he terrorist takeover of a California based nuclear plant forms the premise of this cable movie co-produced by Fox TV and FX Cable. Filmed in documentary style with seemingly real behind-the-scenes shots interspersed with on-the-spot news reports, Bruce Greenwood stars as Tom Shea, the F.B.I. agent in charge -- a complicated man with a Middle East expertise, who becomes suspicious that the takeover is more than a simple plan to kill Americans. Leslie Hope co-stars as a policewoman who accidentally ends up inside the building and becomes Shea's concealed informant, while Arnold Vosloo plays the lead terrorist with an
unexpected agenda.
A timely story with a significant message about the U.S.'s concealment of the truth behind world events, Greenwood began filming the movie in Vancouver, BC early in March, 2004. Originally called American Meltdown, the movie was aired with unprecedented speed a little more than two months after its completion.
Craig Anderson and Beth Grossbard co-produced for Craig Anderson Productions in association with Fox TV Studios, while Jeremiah S. Chechik directed from a script by Larry and Pal Barber.
