Zap 2 It article on Bruce's casting LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Luckily for FX and for the world, Bruce Greenwood has already proved his mettle at pulling the world back from the brink of nuclear holocaust (on screen, at least). The "Thirteen Days" star will topline the FX original movie "Meltdown." Production on the thriller has already begun in Vancouver and FX is aiming for a June premiere.

Written by Larry and Paul Barber ("The Director"), "Meltdown" examines how a nuclear facility is prepared to respond to a terrorist attack. Jeremiah S. Chechick ("Diabolique," "The Avengers") is directing.

"On the surface, the audience will believe one thing, but will quickly realize there are many different agendas in play -- and nothing is quite what it seems," says FX's Senior Vice President of Entertainment Gerard Bocaccio, hopefully. "Coupled with the visual urgency Jeremiah will deliver, we hope to create an action film that takes the audience on a visceral ride, but leaves them buzzing once they understand the truth of the story.

In addition to playing President John F. Kennedy in "Thirteen Days," Greenwood's credits also include "Below," "Double Jeopardy" and a pair of superior dramas with director Atom Egoyan -- "Exotica" and "The Sweet Hereafter."

The "Meltdown" cast also includes Leslie Hope of FOX's "24" and ABC's "Line of Fire." "Sex and the City" co-star James Remar and "Mummy" co-star Arnold Vosloo also appear in the telefilm.

"This cautionary tale needs a group of intense actors that won't flinch under real pressure," says the project's executive producer Craig Anderson. "Our actors are awesome at portraying true-to-life, gritty and strong personalities."

FX's latest original movie, the decidedly more serious "Redemption," airs on Sunday, April 11.
