Bruce Greenwood is 5th billed as Stuart Ramsay, the dynamic young owner of Atlantic International Airlines, who hires anti-terrorist expert John Cutter (top billed Wesley Snipes) to prevent hijackings on his aircraft. Immediately after the job interview Cutter boards one of his boss' planes, which is promptly hijacked by the number one airline terrorist in the world, Charles Rane (2nd billed Bruce Payne). While most of the action takes place on and around the kidnapped plane, back on the ground Ramsay is taking stock of the situation and decides to send his liaison, Sly Delvecchio (Tom Sizemore), to join up with the disaster and make it work to the company's advantage. Greenwood's part is smaller than the billing indicates, but Stuart Ramsay is quite prominent in the few scenes he has as Cutter's arrogant boss, a man not above using the inevitable hijacking to his own ends. Although the plot is predictable and the action is bloody and violent, the action caper got surprisingly good reviews and highly lucrative returns. Filmed in Florida (on a special 2-week break from Knots Landing), the role is primarily important because the film became Bruce Greenwood's first big box-office smash. It's also an early use of Greenwood as a powerful executive. Most of Greenwood's footage was shot away from the action and it is amusing to note that he must have been called back for an additional scene because his short haircut is much longer in one scene only.Widely available on VHS and DVD, the movie airs often over network TV, always to high ratings.
