One of Kenny Rogers' typical (but highly-rated) TV Westerns, the formula called for a questionable hero (Rogers) helping out popular country singers employed as actors, (Travis Tritt and Naomi Judd this time). Bruce Greenwood plays Jervis Walker, the brother of the leader of a gang of outlaws and the most depraved of them all! The movie is considered high camp by many observers and Greenwood certainly plays it for laughs as the slovenly villain who kidnaps a young bride during a bank robbery gone awry and then makes plans to rape her and sell her off! His hair is wild and filthy, his teeth are blackened out and there's not a single hint anywhere that a good looking man lurks somewhere beneath all that dirt. It's certainly unlike anything else he's ever done! Filmed in Texas immediately after leaving Knots Landing, Casey Sander (Mike Love in Summer Dreams) and Brion James (the sex-happy neighbor in The Companion) are also in the cast as fellow outlaws. The music connection no doubt appealed to Greenwood, who would later work more directly with Naomi Judd -- playing her husband in the Judd produced mini-series Naomi and Wynonna, and even more significantly playing opposite her daughter Ashley in the 1999 blockbuster Double Jeopardy.
