A small independent film that originally aired over Canadian television, Striker's Mountain had notable success in its homeland where its message to save the undeveloped ski areas of the Canadian Rockies has a loud and voracious audience. Bruce Greenwood is an important secondary character as Paul Striker, the son of the mountain's owner (August Schellenberg), who becomes a willing pawn in his father's battle with the evil entrepreneur (played by a well cast Leslie Nielson). It's one of Greenwood's earliest romantic leads and is an extremely attractive part, though he had to don a beard to add age. A very Canadian film made by the same team that produced the highly acclaimed The Climb, it's infinitely interesting with beautiful scenery and a unique story that perfectly suits Greenwood -- who is an avid skiier and outdoor enthusiast. Mimi Kuzack is cast as his romantic entanglement and Jessica Steen (later to play his love interest in The Great Pretender) plays his sister. The director worked with Greenwood some years earlier in The Hitchhiker.
