It was a fantastic opportunity for an actor to play two hugely different
kinds of people. Von Schraeder was a dyed-in-the-wool Nazi and his son is a film-maker and
intellectual who eventually discovers the chilling truth about his father. I had to look ten years younger for the Daniel role.

When I was in Cannes for Exotica, a reporter told me I was a great star in Croatia for A Twist Of Fate, which was shot in Europe. Twist of Fate is a miniseries in which I played Ben Cross as a Nazi, then Ben Cross was Ben Cross, then I was his Jewish son. What's to explain? It was ill-conceived and bizarre.
